Big First Half Sets Stage for Soccer Win

Republic blitzed Jefferson City Helias in the first half, scoring four goals in the first 40 minutes on the way to a 5-3 win on the road. Three different players scored for Republic, who won for the eighth time in their last nine games.

Will Fronabarger scored one goal and assisted on three others. Marco Donjuan scored twice and added an assist. Ethan Meyer had two goals, and Philip Mason assisted on one.

Coach Kevin Hauck said his team “wanted more” after the 0-5 start, and they were willing to work for it.

“They knew we had the potential – it was just finding our identity as a team,” he said. “I think they are playing with confidence now, believing in themselves and their teammates.
