Tiger Turnaround: Republic Soccer Wins Two More After 0-5 Start

After Republic beat Parkview in overtime Thursday to end a five-game losing streak at the start of the season, coach Kevin Hauck told his Tigers the first one is always the hardest. He must have been right.

A little over 24 hours later, Republic has won two more matches and has an opportunity to win a weekend tournament in Rolla Saturday morning. The Tigers beat Rolla 1-0 in their Friday opener, then knocked off Capital City, the new Jefferson City high school program, 2-1. Will Fronabarger scored the only goal of the game against the Bulldogs, and Philip Mason scored both goals in the win over Capital City.

The Tigers, who were 0-5 Thursday at 6 pm, are now 3-5. They play Poplar Bluff for a shot at the tournament title. Poplar Bluff tied Rolla and lost to Capital City in Friday’s matches.
