The Republic girls golf team posted its best score of the season today at the Pearson Invitational at Horton Smith Golf Course in Springfield. The Lady Tigers shot a 391 – 29 strokes lower than their score at Willard last week.
Clara Fronabarger finished ninth with an 86. Regan Holmes came in with a 90. Makayla Fears (104), Quinn McCrea (111) and Taygan Rogers (112) rounded out the lineup for Republic.
Coach Curt Plotner credited the team’s work in practice for its improvement, and said the good results at Horton Smith are especially heartening, given the upcoming schedule.
“We are getting better each time we go out. The girls are working really hard, and they are starting to see some better results,” he said. “Districts are going to be at Horton Smith this year, so it was great to have our best score of the year today.”
