Republic police has implemented a new policy for responding to calls in homes during the COVID-19 outbreak. In a statement, the department says officers may ask residents to step outside their homes to limit exposure to both residents and police. Residents are asked to maintain a minimum distance of six feet during those calls.

“Republic Police will attempt to handle as many non-emergency calls for service by phone as possible,” the statement said. “Republic Police will be carrying a very limited supply of N95 masks. If you are showing any symptoms you may be asked to put a provided mask on.”
