In the brief history of Republic swimming and diving, no one has had as good a week as Karissa Metzger. Metzger started the week by winning a Central Ozark Conference championship in the 200-yard freestyle. She became the first Lady Tiger to win a race at the COC meet (and she was quickly joined by Mady McCrea, who won the 200-yard individual medley a few minutes later). Saturday, Metzger followed her COC performance up by finishing second in the 100-yard breaststroke at the Springfield Invite. More important than her finish, her time automatically qualifies her for the state meet in St. Peters later this year. She is the first Tiger swimmer to qualify for state in any event.
