Three Tigers scored in double figures and Republic pulled away down the stretch for a 20-point win against Camdenton, 80-60, to open the Bolivar Tournament. Drew McMillin led Republic with 21 points, including five three-pointers. Race Looney added 18 and Joe Rexroat scored 14 as the Tiger offense turned in one of its highest-scoring games of the year.
Republic used big advantages in the second and fourth quarters, outscoring the Lakers 19-10 in the second period and 22-14 in the fourth. The score was 20-17 after the first quarter and 39-27 at halftime. The Lakers stayed even in the third, and Republic held a 58-46 lead heading into the final eight minutes.
Nine different players scored for Republic, who rebounded from a loss at home earlier this week to Springfield Catholic. The Tigers advance to play St. Joseph Benton in the semifinals. Benton beat Lamar 51-40 in their tournament opener.
Republic improves to 12-6 with its win.
