Republic’s Karissa Metzger and Mady McCrea are Central Ozark Conference champions. Metzger and McCrea each won an individual event at the COC meet in Webb City Tuesday.
Metzger became Republic’s first-ever girls COC swim champion by winning the 200-yard freestyle. Metzger finished with more than a three-second advantage over runner-up Ellie Jett of Nixa. Metzger shaved a whopping 6.89 seconds off her previous best time in the event, finishing in 2:04.16. She had been seeded sixth going into the race.
McCrea was seeded fourth going into the 200-yard individual medley, but bettered her previous fastest time by nearly four seconds in winning a COC title in that event. McCrea finished in 2:17.47, about four seconds ahead of her nearest competitor.
