Karissa Metzger and Mady McCrea both had big nights for the Lady Tigers swim team Friday night in Springfield. Metzger earned 25 points and McCrea earned 26. (Photos below.)
Metzger finished second in the 200-yard freestyle race, which at the time was the highest individual event finish so far for a Republic swimmer. She also took third in the 500-yard freestyle.
McCrea matched Metzger’s runner-up finish in two other events: the 50-yard freestyle and the 100-yard breaststroke. In the breaststroke, McCrea was just two-hundredths of a second behind the winner, Ashley Mallonee of Ozark.
