The Lady Tigers tennis team is getting hot at just the right time. Republic edged Ozark by a half point at the Central Ozark Conference Tournament Friday to capture the title for the second time in a row and the third time in four years.
“I feel like we’ve been kind of trending upwards as the year’s gone on, and this is kind of a continuation of that,” said coach Dan Vales. “We had a good feeling going into today that we were starting to play better tennis at the right time.”
Elsie Crawford was the top finisher for Republic in the #1 singles flight, taking second. Katie Stiles finished third in the #2 singles bracket.
Republic begins district play Tuesday.
