Republic’s Hannah Morgan and Katie Stiles opened play at the state tennis tournament Friday morning at Cooper Tennis Complex in Springfield. Stiles and Morgan grabbed an early lead in the opening set, but couldn’t hold on and lost their opening match to Laila Mai Votruba and Camille Carlton of Timberland, 5-7, 1-6.
Update: Stiles and Morgan dropped their second match of the day to a team from Parkway Central. They finish the season with a 5-2 record as a doubles team, and effectively tie for 13th in the state in Class 2 doubles.
