Lady Tigers Win District Opener (Photos)

Republic won its team tennis district opener Tuesday, beating Joplin 6-2 to advance to the district championship round. The Lady Tigers won two of three doubles matches, then took four of five singles matches to clinch the win. (Photos below.)
During the playoffs, play is stopped after one team reaches five wins. But Tuesday, Abby McCord and Carly McAtee both won their matches at the same time, allowing Republic to notch six victories.

In the only unfinished match, Katie Stiles trailed by a set, but led 4-1 in the second set of her match.

Republic will play for the district championship Wednesday at home.
