The Eagles’ Andrew Taylor knocked in the game-winning goal six minutes into overtime to give Joplin the sudden-death victory.
Joplin had taken a lead with about a minute remaining in the first half, but Republic tied the game again almost as soon as the second half started. One minute into the half, Kalem Murray scored the equalizer.
Both teams had several opportunities to take the lead in the last 30 minutes of regulation, but neither team could get the ball into the net until Taylor’s sudden-death winner.
