Fans of Lady Tigers softball could be forgiven for wondering where their offense would come from as the season began. After losing much of their lineup’s power to graduation, the only sure thing was that the offense would look much different in 2019.
It does look different, but so far, the results are the same. Through three games, the Lady Tigers are undefeated, and they’ve scored 31 runs – an average of 10.3 per game. And the hottest of all are two newcomers to the varsity lineup. Jaci West and Katie Anderson are a combined 12-for-18 at the plate, for a .667 batting average. Between them, they’ve driven in nine of Republic’s 31 runs this season.
The rest of the team isn’t too far behind. They’re hitting .422 as a team, and their team ERA is 1.24, led by Avery Romans, who’s allowed just over a half-run per game.
