It’s hard to imagine how the Lady Tigers tennis team could get much hotter than it’s been over the past seven days. Republic played three conference matches, winning all three. And in all three cases, they did it in dominating fashion.
Monday, the Lady Tigers whipped Nixa 8-1. Two of the matches were 8-0 sweeps: Carly McAtee and Hannah Morgan in doubles, and Elsie Crawford in singles.
One day later, Republic beat Branson 9-0. It marked the first time in history that Republic has swept Branson in girls tennis. That match included an unlikely comeback by Crawford and Katie Stiles, who fell behind in their doubles match 5-1 before reeling off seven straight games to win 8-5.
Republic wrapped up its week with another 9-0 win in another conference match – this time against Carthage. Abby McCord posted an 8-0 sweep in her singles match in that one.
In all, Republic won 26 of 27 matches during the week, putting the Lady Tigers at 5-0 in Central Ozark Conference play as next week begins.
