Republic celebrated Senior Night with a shutout over conference rival Webb City. The Lady Tigers started the evening by recognizing four seniors – Sylvia Haley, Carly McAtee, Hannah Morgan, and Katie Stiles. Three of them (McAtee, Morgan, and Stiles) played four years of tennis, and in those four years, the Lady Tigers compiled a 42-10 record through Thursday’s match. The seniors also helped last year’s team win the Nixa Tournament for the first time in Republic history.
“But more than their success on the court, this class will be remembered for their work ethic, positive attitude, and leadership they have provided this team,” said coach Dan Vales. “Coach Smashey and I are very grateful. They will be missed.”
After the Senior Night festivities, Republic breezed to a win, improving its season record to 7-3. The Lady Tigers are 7-1 in conference play and 5-0 against district opponents, setting themselves up for a #1 seed in the team district tournament.
The Republic JV won 13-11, improving to 7-2-1 this season.
