Tennis Tigers Fall in Team District Final

Republic’s team tennis season came to an end with a loss to favorite Joplin in the championship round of the district tournament Wednesday, 5-0. The Eagles won all three doubles matches, then closed out the night with two singles victories.

In post-season play, all matches immediately stop when one team has clinched a victory. Of the other matches underway, Republic led in just one. That was the #6 singles match, where Ethan Ragsdale was leading when play stopped.

This is the second consecutive season that Joplin has ended Republic’s team season in the finals of the district tournament.

Republic will still be on the courts Friday, though, for the individual district tournament at Carthage.
