Republic freshman Griffin Frey qualified for the Class 4 state tournament Monday, shooting an 82 at Shifferdecker Golf Course in Joplin. Frey is the lone Republic golfer to move on.
Kolby Hosp and Kendall Hamilton ended their high school golf seasons at sectionals. Hosp shot a 93 and Hamilton finished with a 95.
Frey’s 11-over-par 82 was good enough to tie him for 19th. He and three other golfers were the last to make the cut and advance to state.
The state tournament is set for next Monday and Tuesday at Silo Ridge Country Club in Bolivar.
