Frey In Top Half Of Field Midway Through State Tourney (Photos)

Republic freshman Griffin Frey shot an 81 on the first day of the Class 4 state golf tournament at Silo Ridge Country Club in Bolivar Monday. Frey’s 81 tied him for 45th and put him in the top half of the 93-man field at the tournament’s halfway point. (Photos below.)

Dawson Meek of Glendale leads the field with a four-under-par 68. He has a two-stroke lead.

Frey had a score of 40 at the clubhouse turn, and shot a 41 on his final nine holes of the opening day.
