Cook, Thornhill Lead Tigers at COC

Jack Cook and Kile Thornhill finished second in their doubles flight at the Central Ozark Conference Tournament. Their finish was the best among Republic’s competitors.

Cook and Thornhill won their quarterfinal match, then topped an Ozark team in the semifinals, 8-4. They lost the championship match to Joplin.

Republic’s other doubles team, playing in the #1 doubles flight, lost a quarterfinals match to Nixa 8-6, finishing fifth.

In the #1 singles flight, Drew McMillin won his first match before losing a quarterfinal to Branson. Jared Zane won a quarterfinal against Willard in the #2 singles flight, then lost a semifinal match. In the third-place match, he lost to Joplin in a tiebreaker, finishing fourth.

The Tigers return to action in team district play this week. Tuesday, they’ll play Carthage or Willard. If they win, they’ll likely play Joplin Wednesday.

Individual district play is set for Friday at Carthage.
