The Republic golf team topped its previous highest finish of the season Tuesday, placing second out of 14 teams at Whispering Oaks Golf Course in Marshfield. Republic finished with a team score of 347. The Tigers had shot 340 at Fremont Hills, but finished fourth at that tournament.
Kolby Hosp paced Republic for the second straight tournament, shooting a team-best 82. Griffin Frey shot an 85. Both Hosp and Frey finished in the top ten.
“I feel like we are peaking at the right time with conference and districts approaching,” said coach Ben Wolfinbarger. “The kids have really invested into improving the aspects of their games that cost us strokes early in the season, and it’s resulted in us contending these last two events.”
Among the other Tigers, Tyson Young shot an 89, Kendall Hamilton came in at 91, and Austin O’Hara shot a 99.
