Republic got an unexpected home game Thursday, and the Tigers turned it into another win. Republic beat Marshfield 4-0 in a game that was scheduled to be played on the road, but was moved to the turf in Republic because Marshfield’s grass field was too wet to accommodate the match.
Goalkeeper Dalton Ghan and the defense picked up another shutout, and a red-hot four-minute stretch in the second half put the game away for the Tigers.
Leading 1-0 with about 27 minutes left, Republic scored three goals in 3:31. It started with a goal by Chris Pacheco to make the score 2-0. Alex Leonard scored on a penalty kick two minutes later to make it 3-0. And Marco Donjuan headed the ball into the back of the net a minute later to round out the scoring.
The Tigers had broken on top earlier with a goal by Austin Beck. Pacheco added two assists to go with his goal.
Republic improves to 13-7. After a 1-3 start, the Tigers are 12-4. They have a big showdown with Ozark coming up next week.
