Republic’s tennis team fought through a series of close matches to squeak out a win at Branson Tuesday, 5-4.
The key for the Lady Tigers was winning two of the three doubles matches to start the night, including a come-from-behind win by Kaitlyn Snyder and Jordyn Gianopulos. They were down 5-6, but rallied to win three straight games and capture their match. Katie Stiles and Isabella Freeman won their doubles match, as well. Tied 6-6, they won two straight. In the third doubles match, Carly McAtee and Hannah Morgan lost in a tiebreaker.
Branson and Republic split their singles matches 3-3. Snyder (8-6), Morgan (8-2), and Freeman (8-5) picked up wins to keep Republic undefeated.
“Traditionally, in girls and boys tennis we’ve had trouble winning at Branson,” says coach Dan Vales. “Last year, they snapped our 13 match conference girls tennis winning streak- which makes this victory a little sweeter.
The Lady Tigers are 4-0 overall and 3-0 in the Central Ozark Conference. They travel to Carthage for another conference match next.
