Basketball coach Trevyor Fisher is leaving the sideline, but he grabbed some hardware on the way out. Fisher was one of two boys basketball coaches in Missouri given a “Coach of the Year” award from the National High School Basketball Coaches Association. The award is given to coaches for their contributions to high school basketball.
“I was very honored to get this award, especially in my last year of coaching,” Fisher says. “There are many qualified candidates that are deserving each year, so I’m very appreciative.”
Fisher got the award on the same weekend that his father, Mark Fisher, was given the Gary Filbert Lifetime Achievement Award by the Missouri Basketball Coaches Association.
And Chandler Duryea, four-year manager for the Tigers basketball program, was honored as the top manager in Missouri by the state’s basketball coaches.
“It was a cool weekend for our family to have both those awards to occur at the same time,” says Fisher. “Also, Chandler received his award for student assistant of the year, so it was a great weekend.”
