Republic High School has honored former basketball player and track athlete Treydon Rackley with an all-state plaque recognizing his achievements. Rackley spent just two years in Republic after transferring from Gainesville High School, but left a lasting impression on the school’s athletic programs.
In Gainesville, he was a state qualifier in track, placing eighth in the 1600-meter run as a freshman and third in the same event as a sophomore. He was also a cross-country state qualifier. In a preview of things to come, Rackley hit a game-winning shot to beat Republic at the Rogersville tournament.
After transferring to Republic, he immediately became a part of the basketball and track programs. As a junior, he helped lead the Tigers to a 21-7 record, earning all-district and all-conference honors. A highlight of his junior season was a game-winning buzzer-beater at the end of the third overtime period against Bolivar.
As a senior, Rackley helped Republic win a Blue & Gold Tournament championship. He averaged 15 points per game for the season and was named Central Ozark Conference Player of the Year. He was also named to the Class 5 First Team All-State squad. Rackley is the first all-state boys basketball player at Republic since the school moved up to Class 5.
Rackley is currently playing basketball and studying engineering at College of the Ozarks.
