All 10 Republic players scored, and the Tiger defense was as good as ever in a 68-38 drubbing of Webb City Friday night.
Republic allowed only 14 points in the first half–seven in the first quarter and seven in the second.
Broc Smith led the offense again for Republic. He scored 21 points, despite spending much of the fourth quarter on the bench. It was his fourth consecutive game with more than 20 points. Thirteen of his points came in the first quarter, as Republic set the tone from the very beginning.
Smith and Tucker Thomas combined for 17 of the Tigers’ first 19 points, as Republic built a 19-7 lead at the end of the first quarter. Republic out-scored Webb City 18-7 in the second quarter to lead 37-14 at halftime.
“Webb City is a good team. We knew it was going to be physical and tough, and the way we came out and just really took it to them was impressive,” says coach Trevyor Fisher. “I think top to bottom, one through ten, it was our best game of the year, so I was very pleased with their effort and execution.”
Everyone got into the game for Republic, after they’d extended their lead to 30 points at the end of the third quarter.
“Not only get in, but play well when they’re in there,” says Fisher. “That just gives everybody confidence, and hopefully we can keep building on them.”
Republic stays undefeated in the Central Ozark Conference at 4-0. They’re 16-4 overall. Webb City falls to 10-10 (2-2).
The Tigers travel to Branson next Tuesday.
Republic celebrated Winter Courtwarming Friday, as well. Sydnee Garrison was crowned queen before the game.
