Republic went 3-2 at the Crackerjack Shack Invitational in Springfield this weekend, defeating Bolivar, Cassville, and Willard, and losing to Columbia Battle and Fatima.
Republic 17 Bolivar 1
Republic opened the tournament with a blowout win over Bolivar, and freshman Kaitlyn Ragsdale took the spotlight. She entered the game with 28 stolen bases — one short of the single-season Republic record of 29, held by Kellie Aldridge. Ragsdale stole three bases in the game, setting the record and pacing the Lady Tiger offense. Ally Stolte homered and Avery Romans pitched well to earn the win. (Ragsdale’s stolen base mark at the end of the weekend is 35.)
Columbia Battle 7 Republic 3
Ragsdale and AJ Fenske had two hits apiece, but the Lady Tigers struggled at the plate against Battle, scratching out only six hits. The Lady Tigers also committed four errors.
Fatima 8 Republic 7
Republic scored two runs in the bottom of the 7th to tie the game 7-7, but Fatima scratched out a run in the 8th inning to grab the win. Fenske had three hits for the Lady Tigers, and Megan Thorne had two.
Republic 11 Cassville 4
Julia Higgins doubled twice and had three hits to power Republic past Cassville. Riley Laub drove in two runs and scored another.
Republic 8 Willard 5
Fenske pounded out three more hits, drove in two runs, and scored a run in Republic’s win over conference opponent Willard. Ragsdale, Livi Collier, and Karleigh Summers added two hits apiece. The Lady Tigers scored two runs in the top of the 1st and never looked back. Collier worked seven innings in the circle, allowing five runs (two earned) and picking up the win.
Republic is now 15-8.
