On September 12, 2016, Katie Hamilton turned in her career-best score: a 76 at the Jim Pearson Invitational in Springfield. As she had done for much of her golf career, Hamilton led the Lady Tigers that day. Her score was just one away from the school record for a single round, a 75 by Payton Rayl.

But it didn’t take long for Hamilton to step it up another notch. On September 15, her very next outing, Hamilton shot a 74, breaking the school record. She also led the Lady Tigers to their first tournament win of the year at Willard, as they topped their nearest competitor, Nixa, by 28 strokes.

Hamilton capped her career with a trip to the state tournament late in the season, cementing her place among Republic’s best golfers ever. You voted her senior season as the #5 story of 2016-17.
