Livi Collier shut down the Carl Junction lineup to keep the Lady Tigers within striking distance. Then she picked up a bat and helped them strike back. Collier’s two-run homer in the bottom of the 5th inning tied the game at 3-3 and fueled a Republic comeback that led to an 8-3 win at home over the Bulldogs.
Collier and Ally Stolte each finished with three runs batted in and two runs scored for the Lady Tigers. Collier also picked up the win after relieving Avery Romans in the pitching circle. Collier entered the game with runners on second and third with one out, and with the Lady Tigers trailing 3-1. She got a strikeout and a groundout to work out of the jam.
The Lady Tigers rapped out 14 hits against Carl Junction. Julia Higgins and Kaitlyn Ragsdale had two each. Ragsdale also had two more stolen bases, bringing her season total to 11 in just six games. AJ Fenske and Savana Smith also had hits for the Lady Tigers.
Republic improves to 5-1.
