Coaches love to talk about their teams peaking at the right time. No Republic team has exemplified that more than the 2017 Tiger golfers. After an up-and-down season, the Republic squad came together at the cold, wet district tournament to notch its best performance of the year. All five Tigers — Mitch Coiner, Austin Melton, Kolby Hosp, Kendall Hamilton, and Grant Holmes — scored well enough to advance to the sectional tournament.
Coiner turned in the best score of all, shooting an 84 to finish fifth overall. Melton tied for sixth with an 85, and Hosp tied for eighth with an 86. Hamilton shot a 93 and Holmes finished with a 94.
The Tigers finished third as a team, behind Nixa and Kickapoo. All five Republic golfers will travel to Hoots Hollow Country Club in Pleasant Hill for the sectional tournament.
