Josh Gentry pitched a three-hit shutout as Republic continued its turnaround with a 6-0 conference win over Carthage. Gentry pitched seven innings, striking out four and walking one. He was also 2-for-3 with a walk at the plate, driving in two runs.
Republic scored two runs each in the third, fourth, and fifth innings. Tyler Cavener scored on a sacrifice fly by Austin Atkins for Republics first run. Gentry doubled home Landin Sigman later in the inning.
In the fourth, Republic scored on an infield RBI single by Atkins and a bases-loaded walk to Gentry.
An RBI double by Cameron Beck scored Gus Bauer in the fifth inning, and Blake Messier drove home beck to make it 6-0.
The Tigers had 11 hits.
The win was the fourth in five games for Republic, who have nearly climbed back to the .500 mark (4-5) after losing their first four games.
