Over the weekend, the Republic Special Olympics Basketball team traveled to Carl Junction to take part in the Stevie Lain Classic. Our HS Tiger Paws 3 on 3 team earned a Silver medal by defeating Mac County Mustangs in the first game, but fell to Nevada in the second game. Leading Scorers for each game are below.
Game 1:
Christian Clayton- 8 pts, 6 rebs
Eric Whillock- 8 pts, 6 rebs
Bret Kies and Kali Dawson each had a rebound
Game 2:
Bret Kies- 2 pts
Eric Whillock- 2 pts, 2 rebounds, steal
Kali Dawson and Christian Clayton each had a rebound
Dougie Kies took part in the individual skills competition and came home with a Silver medal.
Our HS and MS/Elementary 5 on 5 teams earned Bronze medals as both faced tough and more experienced competition. In the HS 5 on 5 match up, the Tigers lost to the Thundring Herd, but it was not for a lack of effort as the Tigers had 4 individuals get in the scoring column. In the second game the Tigers lost a close game the entire way until towards the end, falling to the Carl Junction White Bulldogs 39-27. The Tigers gave a tremendous effort, and battled the entire game. The Tigers got outstanding efforts on the offensive and defensive end by several players as McKae Geromini led the Tigers in Scoring with 12 pts. While Samuel Ard let the Tigers on the glass with 16 rebounds.

In the MS/Elementary 5 on 5 game, the Tiger Claws were outmatched as they faced a much taller Bushwhackers team but fought hard the entire game. In the second game the Tiger Claws battled the entire game and wound up having six players score against Mac County.
