Just a day after losing a heartbreaker in overtime at Nixa, the Republic soccer team stormed back into the win column with a 5-0 win at West Plains. Dylan Brown scored three goals and assisted on a fourth to lead the Tigers. Armando Hurtado and Carlos Chan also scored for Republic, while keeper Cody Marcotte and the defense recorded the shutout.
“It was a physical game and we had Julio Quezada… and (Drew) Flippin out (with injuries),” says coach Kevin Hauck. “I thought the boys played hard and and kept good composure through the game. It’s a confidence booster and I feel like we just keep growing together and becoming stronger as a unit. I am really excited to see where we can be by the end of the season. We haven’t even played our best soccer yet.
Brown’s first goal was assisted from Austin Beck. Trenton Roetto assisted on the second. Brown assisted on Hurtado’s goal, and Mason Michaelis assisted on Chan’s.
The Tigers improve to 3-1. They travel to Branson for a conference game next Tuesday.
