The Lady Tigers softball team destroyed its opponents 25-0 in two games to start the Ozark Tournament Friday. Along the way, the Lady Tigers destroyed two school records.
Republic pounded Rogersville 13-0 to open the tournament, and followed it up after a long rain delay with a 12-0 win over Pleasant Hope. In the opener, Kami Holt hit her 22nd career home run. That broke a school record she had previously shared with Hailey Johnson and gave her sole possession of 10th place on Missouri’s all-time career home run list.
Rachael Rook started both games for the Lady Tigers and picked up both wins. That ran her career win total to 72, breaking the previous school record held by Stephanie Sparkman. Rook also struck out 18 batters in the two games, giving her 98 strikeouts for the season and 848 for her career.
Julia Higgins went 3-for-3 in the win over Rogersville, then collected a hit in her first at-bat in the nightcap. Going back to the Lady Tigers’ win over Nixa, that gave Higgins a base hit in eight consecutive at-bats. She reached base on a walk on her next at-bat, running her streak to nine straight plate appearances, before she reached on an error her next time up.
Ally Stolte had a huge day at the plate. She was 5-for-5 in the two games with a double, a home run, and six RBIs. Taylor Hulland was a combined 3-for-6 in the two games.
The Lady Tigers are now 9-3 this season. They’ll pick up tomorrow morning at Ozark High School with games at 10:30 and noon.
