Regan Butterworth scored on a sacrifice fly by Chandler Coates in the top of the ninth-inning to help republic to its third consecutive when, 6-5 over Marshfield.
Josh Gentry had two base hits and drove in a run for the Tigers. Tyler Mackey pitched two scoreless innings in relief of Jansen McQuerter to pick up the victory. Mackey struck out three and didn’t allow a hit or a walk.
McQuerter started and pitched seven innings, allowing five runs–four of them earned. He struck out six.
Republic had tied the game in the top of the seventh inning, when the Tigers scored two runs on consecutive walks with the bases loaded.
It’s the third win in a row for the Tigers. They are now 9-10. They will be back in action Saturday in Sedalia.
