The Tiger golf team turned it around after a rough outing at the Central Ozark Conference Tournament last week. Playing at Twin Hills in Joplin during the district tournament Monday, three Tigers qualified for sectionals.
Senior Tristan Ollar led the Tigers with a round of 84. That was good enough for a tie for 8th place, and it earned him all-district honors. Ollar shot a 39 on his final nine holes to secure his sectional berth.
Junior Mitch Coiner shot a 43 on his opening nine holes, then hung on to shoot 90 overall. Austin Melton came in at 92, making the cut to advance to sectionals.
Alex Holden and Kendall Hamilton both missed the cut to end their seasons. Holden shot a 95 and Hamilton a 96.
Ollar, Coiner, and Melton will be at Rivercut on Friday for a practice round, and will compete in sectionals there on Monday. It’s a return to the site of the COC Tournament, which didn’t treat the Tigers well last week. But the Tigers have had success there in the past. Ollar shot a 174 over 36 holes there two years ago, tying him for 23rd in the Class 1 state tournament.
