Errors Cost Tigers in Loss

Republic committed four errors in a 4-2 loss to Aurora at home Saturday afternoon. The first two batters reached base on errors to lead off the game for the Houn’ Dawgs, they both came around to score, and Aurora never looked back.

The Houn’ Dawgs added a third run in the 3rd inning to make the score 3-0 before the Tigers got on the board in the bottom of the 3rd. With two outs, Chandler Coates was hit by a pitch. He scored on an RBI double by Austin Atkins to cut the lead to 3-1.

The teams traded runs in the 5th. After Aurora scored in the top half of the inning, Gus Bauer walked and Josh Gentry doubled. Bauer scored on a groundout to make the score 4-2, but that’s as close as the Tigers would get.

Jansen McQuerter was the tough-luck loser on the mound, pitching seven innings and allowing just a single earned run on four base hits. He struck out three and walked two.

Wyatt Sparks allowed two earned runs in six innings for Aurora to pick up the win. He also had three base hits of his own.

Republic falls to 4-5.
