Tigers Overcome Slow Start to Whip Lebanon

Republic and Lebanon were tied 9-9 after one quarter. But the Tigers outscored the Yellowjackets 35-12 over the next 16 minutes to pull away for a 55-33 win at home Monday night. Republic held Lebanon to 28% shooting from the field. The Tigers outscored Lebanon in the paint 38-16.

“We always try to keep people out of the paint…and make them hit contested, tough shots, then box out,” says coach Trevyor Fisher. “They didn’t get a whole lot of transition (points), which we were worried about, and they missed some shots that could have gone in.”

The second quarter was the biggest offensive quarter of the night for Republic. They scored 19 points while allowing only eight, and they led 28-17 at the half.

In the third quarter, Republic clamped down on defense, allowing only four points while scoring 16.

Treydon Rackley scored 17 points to lead Republic. Cameron Doke also scored in double figures with 11 points–nine of them in the second half.
