Second Half D Saves Tigers after Slow Start

Republic scored only 13 points in the first half, but improved the offense just enough and held Waynesville to just 15 points in the second half as they came from behind to win their final game of the Rogersville Tournament, 39-34.

Cameron Doke had 12 points to lead Republic, just a day after sitting out a game with back spasms. Tristan Ollar added 10 points. Ty Stevens had seven points. Treydon Rackley scored five, and Mitch Coiner added two. Coiner’s points came on two free throws in the final seconds that helped ice the game for Republic.

Waynesville out-rebounded Republic, shot better from the floor, and made more three-pointers, yet Republic still found a way to eke out the victory. The Tigers are now 14-4 on the season. They host Springfield Central next Tuesday night.
