Air Jordan: Kabetske Answers Catcalls with Bombing Run

Early in Monday’s game against Carthage, Jordan Kabetske launched an airball from beyond the three-point arc. The Carthage student section didn’t forget it — but Kabetske did.

While the Carthage students chanted “airball” every time she touched the ball, Kabetske responded with an extraordinary shooting display, swishing five three-pointers in the first half to lead Republic to a 65-36 win on the road in their Central Ozark Conference opener.

Kabetske led the Lady Tigers with 19 points. Brooke Stanfield scored 14. Taylor Fergen scored 11. Brylee Argo added 10. Jade Sawyer had three. Alexis Ladwig and Carly Bayans scored four each.

Republic forced 22 Carthage turnovers and scored 35 points off those turnovers. The Lady Tigers turned the ball over only six times.

Republic hit 48% from the field, 44% from beyond the three-point line (8-for-18), and 56% from the free throw line (5-for-9).

Carthage made 37% of its shots from the field and was just 5-for-20 on three-point attempts.

Republic improves to 12-1 overall. They’re 1-0 in the Central Ozark Conference. The Lady Tigers play at Marshfield Thursday night.
