Republic softball wrapped up its regular season in dominating fashion, blowing out Rogersville on the road 13-1. The Lady Tigers scored four runs in the first inning and three runs in the second, and never looked back on the way to their 25th win of the season. That’s the most Republic has ever won in a single year, breaking the old mark of 24 set in 2014.
Sydney Phillips and Caty Eby were both 4-for-4 with a double, three runs scored, and an RBI. Rachel Rook was 2-for-3 at the plate and drove in three runs to help her own cause. The Lady Tigers banged out 16 hits all together.
Rook was also her usual self in the pitching circle, throwing six innings and striking out 11 batters. She walked three and allowed two hits. Rogersville’s only run was unearned.
Rook now has 291 strikeouts on the season. She could become the first Republic pitcher to ever surpass 300 strikeouts in a season when the Lady Tigers open district play on Thursday. Republic will play either Carthage or McDonald County at 4:30 p.m.
Two Lady Tigers share Country Couture Player of the Game honors for Monday–because they had almost identical games. Both Sydney Phillips and Caty Eby had four base hits. Both of them had a double. Both drove in three runs and scored another. Their big nights helped power the Republic offense to a road win in their regular-season finale.
All season long, Country Couture Boutique is sponsoring a player of the game for Lady Tigers softball. Stop in to their store across from Casey’s on Highway 174 for a complete selection of softball and other Tiger and Lady Tiger apparel.
