The Republic soccer team rebounded from its season-opening loss at Monett with an easy road win at Lebanon Thursday, 5-1. Julio Quezada scored two goals and had an assist to lead the Tigers.
Republic jumped on top 1-0 when Quezada fed Tanner Peabody with a 40-yard cross. Peabody took the ball off his chest on the run, settled it and finished for the score.
Dylan Brown and Payton Roetto also scored for the Tigers. It was the first goal of the season for each.
“Overall, we played well,” says coach David Ashby. “We still haven’t played our best brand of soccer, and we are still finding ways to compete and win.”
The JV team also won at Lebanon Thursday, 4-0.
Republic’s varsity team improves to 1-1. The Tigers open Central Ozark Conference play at home next Tuesday against Nixa.
