The Lady Tigers celebrate Kheiara Dodd’s first career goal in the second half.

Republic ran its record to 7-1 — the best start to a season in program history — with a 9-0 win over Monett Friday in the Ozark Shootout. Five different players scored for the Lady Tigers, including Ashley Brown and Kheiara Dodd, who each notched their first varsity goals.

Jocelyn Carpenter added three more goals to her team-leading total, and Lesleigh Fenton had three goals as well. Emily Jordan also added a goal for the Lady Tigers.

“We did a very good job of moving the ball today. It was probably some of the best passing that we’ve seen in a while,” says coach Mike Hines. “Jordan was her usual dynamic self. She distributed the ball and I think she had six assists. She’s just all over the place.”

Republic plays two more games at Ozark on Saturday, starting at 8 am.
