Despite losing only one game all weekend, Republic finished in 5th place at the Carthage Invitational over the weekend. Republic beat Joplin, Jefferson City, Neosho, and Carl Junction; its only loss was to Ozark on Friday evening.
Emily Hall had four hits to lead the Lady Tigers past Joplin 5-3 in the opener. Hall also drove in three runs.
Against Ozark, Republic managed only one hit–a solo home run by Hall–in a 7-2 loss.
Taylor Gold had three hits against Jefferson City in a 4-2 win. Rachel Rook struck out 13 batters in that win.
Hall had another big day against Neosho, with three more base hits. Kami Holt drove in three runs for the Lady Tigers in a 6-2 win.
Lauren Strobel had three hits to lead the way for the Lady Tigers against Carl Junction in an 8-6 victory.
During the weekend, Rook went over 200 strikeouts for the season, becoming the first Republic pitcher to ever reach that mark. The Lady Tigers also broke the team record for home runs in a season, and currently have 18 homers this year.
Republic is back in action on Senior Night Monday against Rogersville.
