The Republic volleyball team kept its season alive with a win over Neosho in the district tournament at Carthage Monday. Republic won both sets against Neosho, whom it had also beaten in straight sets during the regular season. This time, it was 25-19 25-19.
Emily Preston had 16 assists for Republic. Jera Pipkin recorded 11 digs. Brooke Stanfield had three kills and three blocks, to lead the team in both categories. Micah Mansker had three service aces.
Republic moves into the district semifinals Wednesday against host Carthage. Carthage is 25-8-2 this year, and seeded second in the district. Republic is 12-13-4, and seeded third. Their match will begin around 6:30 Wednesday.
The first semifinal will feature #1 seed Carl Junction against Joplin. That match will start at 5 pm.
