Republic Tiger Sports20140501-3The tennis Tigers split a double-header with Neosho and Ozark Thursday, beating the Wildcats 9-0 before losing to Ozark 5-3 in the nightcap.

The win over Neosho was the first-ever 9-0 sweep for the boys tennis team since moving to the new tennis courts at the high school. It was a dominating performance, with the Tigers dropping just eight games total in the six singles matches. Republic won the three doubles matches in equally dominant fashion, 6-0, 6-2, and 6-2.

Against Ozark, Republic lost 5-3. The #3 doubles match was stopped with Republic leading 1-0, after Ozark had clinched the overall victory.

One of the key points in the dual came in one of the doubles matches, when Cory Harris and Will Hyde had match point and were not able to convert. Ozark came back to win that match 9-7.

Bradley Hendrix had what coach Dan Vales called his best singles win of the year in the #3 singles spot.
