The middle of the season hasn’t been kind to the Republic Lady Tigers soccer team. But they turned around their fortunes with a strong performance in the cold and rain Tuesday night, beating Willard 3-0. Sierra Casagrand scored two goals and Sara Marcotte scored one.
The Lady Tigers possessed the ball for most of the 1st half, but came away with only one goal. It happened when Casagrand took a pass from Sara Marcotte and put the ball in the back of the net with 24:45 left in the half. After close misses on several other possessions, the Lady Tigers went into the halftime break with a 1-0 lead.
About eight minutes into the 2nd half, Emily Jordan fed Marcotte for a goal, giving Republic a 2-0 lead. The Lady Tigers sealed the win when Casagrand scored her second goal of the night, assisted by Emily Griffith, with 2:31 remaining.
Republic is back home Thursday against Marshfield, on Senior Night.
