Lady Tigers Gut Out a Road Win

IMG_8856The Republic Lady Tigers struggled all night, but did just enough to win on the road in a Central Ozark Conference game at Neosho, 53-47.

Neosho led 14-10 after one quarter, but the Lady Tigers put together a 13-4 run to take the lead, and looked like they were in control. Neosho responded, though, by scoring six of the next seven points to even the game at halftime, 24-24.

Republic eventually led by as many as ten points, 50-40, but Neosho wouldn’t go away. When Republic missed seven 4th-quarter free throws, including three front ends of 1-and-1 opportunities, Neosho managed to get within striking distance again. They closed the gap to 50-47 before Republic sealed the win.

Republic returns home Thursday for a COC game against Nixa. The night will also include a ceremony to honor the 1994 and 2004 state championship teams on their 20th and 10th anniversaries, respectively.
