The Republic Lady Tigers allowed only eight field goals all night, as they pounded Pittsburg, Kan., 57-27. Three players scored in double figures for Republic, led by Tori Taylor with 12. Micah Mansker and Michayla Shanks each scored 10.
The win ended a two-game losing streak for the Lady Tigers, who’d dropped two close road games, at Marshfield and Sullivan.
Brylee Argo paced the Lady Tigers early, scoring six of her eight points in the 1st quarter as Republic built a 12-9 lead. In the 2nd quarter, Republic’s offense heated up and they began to pull away. The Lady Tigers outscored Pittsburg 19-6 in the 2nd quarter, and led 31-15 at halftime.
The 3rd quarter was even better for Republic, as they outscored Pittsburg 23-5 to put the game away.
In addition to Taylor, Mansker, Shanks, and Argo, the Lady Tigers got six points from Brooke Stanfield, five from Jordan Kabetske, three from Jade Sawyer, two from Logan Flood, and one from Haley Smith.
