Momentum Swings to Ozark in COC Road Loss

Republic volleyball coach Piper Wright often says volleyball is a game of momentum. Tuesday night, Republic had it, then lost it, and couldn’t get it back in a two-set loss at Ozark. Ozark beat Republic 25-20 25-23 to hand the Lady Tigers their first conference loss of the season.

After dropping the first set, Republic jumped ahead in the second. They led 21-15, and appeared ready to even the match, when they let the momentum slip away.

“A team like Ozark, you can’t even give them two or three in a row, and we did that. After we got up two or three points, we just let them come back in,” says Wright.

Ozark scored seven straight points to take a 22-21 lead, and went on to win the second set and close out the match.

Despite the loss, Wright says her team played well against a strong opponent.

“I really don’t have a lot to complain about,” Wright says. “We played well, it just didn’t fall our way.”
