The Republic Lady Tigers had to work for it, but they grabbed their second straight victory Thursday when they beat Mountain Grove 25-15 24-26 25-14.
The Lady Tigers looked like they would cruise to the win, until their momentum stalled in game two.

“I really think we totally lost focus,” says coach Piper Wright. “We played a little bit selfishly. We weren’t communicating, weren’t talking to each other. And no matter how good a team you’re playing, no matter how good you are, that just cannot happen. You can’t have a breakdown in communication. That’s just essential.”
Lexi Birlew had a big game, leading the team with 11 kills, 20 digs, and two blocks. Brooke Stanfield had two blocks as well. Emily Preston had 28 assists and Micah Mansker added two aces.
Republic improves to 2-1.
